Race Track Cake

I was so happy to make this cake for such a sweet woman who is having a double birthday for her 3 and 4 year old boys. As boys do, these ones love cars, so we made them a race track cake based on a photo I found online. It is a vanilla cake with vanilla frosting and covered in fondant. The cars are edible and are chocolate covered in fondant. The boys names are both in fondant on the back of the cake.

My Goodness, My Guinness... Cake

This may not be my most creative design, but here I was focusing on a new flavor to add to my repertoire. This is the Chocolate Guinness cake. Need I say more?

Now having a husband that loves chocolate, I have made it my goal to have a very delicious chocolate cake recipe, but the combination of butter, Guinness and chocolate has completely blown the old recipe out of the water... or kitchen for that matter.

Army Boy's Birthday Cake

As a general rule, 6 year old boys are known to like bugs, cars, Star Wars and the army. My 6 year old boy is no exception, so he received this army cake for his birthday. He was a little upset about me using his own army toys for the cake, until he realized that after licking off the frosting, they can be used again. (phew!) The cake was a white cake that was dyed camouflage with a chocolate frosting. I wanted to get a picture of the inside, but we were too busy eating it to stop and take pictures! It looked like the rainbow cake I made below but with army colors.

Spring Girl's 1st Birthday Cake

The perfect spring birthday cake- too bad the weather wasn't sunny to match the flowers! This is a red velvet cake on the inside with a chocolate buttercream frosting. The outside is colored fondant.

Happy Monkey Birthday!

This is a special cake for a special boy who turned two. He loves Curious George so of course that was the theme and I made the cake a jungle theme as well. The inside is also very special as it is a rainbow! It is a white cake with chocolate fudge frosting.

It's a Girl! Baby Shower Cake

Aw! With two boys and a husband, I am surrounded by boys in my house! Alas, I do not get to shop in the pink section much. However, with this cake I got to completely indulge my longing for being girly and loving pink! My friend Michelle suggested the two pink feet on the top- which pull the entire thing together! The inside is a yellow cake recipe but I used food coloring to make it pink. The frosting was a pink (of course) buttercream and the decoration is fondant.

Like Totally Rad... Happy Birthday!

This is a three tier cake I made a 35th surprise birthday.. can you guess the theme? The top tier has a Simple Simon and of course the second has cassette tapes and also an MTV logo on the other side. The bottom feature Ms Pac Man. What a fun cake to create- I had a blast doing it! The bottom layer is the classic yellow cake with fudge frosting and the top and middle layer are chocolate with chocolate frosting.
